Lembeh Velvetfish
Paraploactis sp1.

This rather ugly fish is a member of the Velvetfish family. What makes it so special is that, as the name suggests, it is only found in Lembeh Strait.

It doesn’t move much and I found this one in about 3 metres of water. you can see that there is plenty of ‘muck’ in the water and the Lembeh Velvetfish is a pretty mucky critter. They ‘sway’ around as they do not have swim bladders.
